I have implemented new iSeries Users Group Forums for Midlands iSeries Community. You have to be a registered user to post your questions and answers in the forum. To register, please go here. After successful registration, you will need to sign on. Please use this link . If you have questions about registration, sign on or suggestions, complaints please send an e-mail to us.
MMUG forums are divided into three categories:
- General
- Programming
- Vendors
The General Category has three forums, namely Introduce yourself, General Chit Chat and Website Comments and Suggestions. As the names suggest, go ahead and introduce yourself or have a general chit chat with your fellow iSeries professionals or simply share your work related experiences or Dilbert-esque incidents. If you have suggestions or comments to improve this website, please share them in the appropriate forum.
There is a Programming Category for you to post your programming or procedural questions and share your tips. We currently have RPG (all), CL and Commands, Java, J2EE and Websphere, SQL and even COBOL. More forums maybe added if there is enough interest from the user community.
The iSeries Vendors are important part of the community. We have a Vendors category, where member vendors may showcase products in form of white papers, provide tips, tricks and tutorials of their products. No explicit advertising is allowed.
Here are a few simple rules of the forum:
- Please do not use profanity or insult a fellow member.
- Please do not use these forums to post jobs or any other irrelevant materials.
- Take some time to formally introduce yourself in the Forum located under General Category.
- If you have a programming related question or a tip to share, please post it under proper forum.
- Vendors may post white papers, introductions and various features of their products that are useful for users, but no advertising is allowed.
Please help in building this community to help each other with iSeries related discussions and problem solving.

Midlands Midrange Users Group (MMUG) was founded in 1989. MMUG is a users group dedicated to the education of our members and others in the management, development, and integration of IBM AS/400 and iSeries systems. We are located in Omaha, Nebraska and our members are drawn from eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
As stated in the bylaws the general purpose of the group is to promote the free exchange of AS/400 (iSeries) information between members, IBM and other midrange vendors; also to facilitate and stimulate the timely interchange of AS/400 information. Group meetings are not to be used as a forum for solicitations of personnel, or promotion of products or services.
The objectives of the organization:
- To promote and expand the education, knowledge and skills of its members.
- To encourage free exchange of AS/400 technical information and problem solving techniques.
- To provide adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events related to AS/400 use.
How do we accomplish these objectives?
- We have built a long-standing relationship with IBM and work very closely with them to bring in outstanding speakers, coordinate events and keep our members and community current on the ever changing technologies of the midrange platform.
- We have relied on local and national speakers to discuss technical topics of interest to our members.
- We provide a forum through regular meetings to allow our members to meet and discuss issues of the day.
- We believe strongly that this organization is the ideal vehicle for the free exchange of knowledge, ideas and information. For this organization to be successful, we will need to expand our current membership base so that we can continue to provide the quality of speakers and events that our members have become accustom to.
- We are in the process of updating the current website, updating links, navigation, appearance and overall content.
- We want to hear what the community wants so we will be publishing an online survey for both members and non-members. A great deal of the direction for 2006 and beyond will come out of the results of this survey.
- We will bring back the newsletter and initially intend to publish it on a quarterly basis.
- Much of our focus will be on providing information on modernization of applications, new technologies and capabilities of the iSeries system, new application development methodologies etc.
- We will also focus on current topics that IT organizations are dealing with, such as security, disaster recovery and SOX to name a few.
- Based on the outcome of the survey we may change the time and frequency of the member meetings.
- We plan to pursue co-sponsorship of events with other users groups where topics would be applicable for both organizations.
Goals and direction for 2006:
